FPM

There has been a lot of great new music released over the last few weeks. You can find out what was released this weekend in our New Music Report, but take a look at what we've been listening to lately. Our editors Nicole, James, and Isha have shared some of their Expert Picks for the week. Check it out below.

Nicole's Picks:

Kygo featuring Sasha Sloan - "This Town"

Ever feel like you're on a great big hamster wheel of life? And you're ready to hop off and go your own way? This song is for you. Kygo teamed up with singer Sasha Sloan on this beautiful song about following your own path, out of the monotony of what may be your typical hometown life. Sasha sings in the chorus, "All of my friends are settling down/They're only kids but they're married now/Let's follow the lights/Let's follow the crowd/Baby we got to get out/Let's get out of this town." Sound familiar?

DJ Snake featuring LAUV - "A Different Way"

DJ Snake has returned with a brand new single, called "A Different Way," and it features singer/songwriter LAUV. And speaking of songwriting, the new track was actually co-written by none other than Ed Sheeran, Johnny McDaid, Steve Mac, and DJ Snake himself, in addition to a few more friends. The producer/DJ actually debuted "A Different Way" during a Facebook live in a 23-minute mix, which included his other hits, that took place at the top of Arc de Triomphe in his native Paris -- talk about "A Different Way" to premiere your own music!

James' Picks:

Starrah x Diplo - Starrah x Diplo EP

After plenty of teasing, the fruits of Starrah and Diplo’s labor comes to life with the release of their surprise EP. On the five-track collection, which includes the previously released “Swerve,” the pair evoke different levels of sensuality. It hits on smooth R&B and grittier pieces that will probably pair well with your next house party. What’s great about this set is that it genuinely sounds effortless, putting the chemistry of these two on the frontline. See: "You Know It" and "Swerve"

Miley Cyrus - "Week Without You"

Almost a week before the release of her new album, Younger Now, Miley Cyrus has shared a slow-burning cut from the upcoming set called "Week Without You" and it's all about a broken relationship. On the almost-four-minute track, the pop star goes in and out of her romantic woes atop the cut's country-charged production. "I know that I gave you my heart, but you stomped it to the ground/ And that's what's got me wondering what it's like to not have you around," she sings of the lost romance during the chorus. "Week Without You" was co-written and co-produced by Cyrus. It's actually one of her many contributions to the set, which drops September 29. In fact, she has co-writing and co-producing credits on every single track on the LP.

Isha's Picks:

Tamar Braxton - "Blind"

Tamar Braxton is readying her fifth studio album, Bluebird of Happiness, which drops later this month. So, the star just released her latest single entitled "Blind" and it's so good that you won't be able to stop listening to it. "I'd rather go blind, blind, blind/ Than to see you with her tonight/ I'm done with your lies/ But, I can't say goodbye/ So, I'd rather go blind," Braxton starts off the song.

Bluebird of Happiness will be Braxton's first independent release via her own Logan Land Records. She was previously signed to Epic. The new project will consist of 11 songs with "Blind" being one of them. Co-produced by Rodney Jerkins and her husband, Vincent Herbert, Bluebird of Happiness is set to drop on Sept. 29.

Jhene Aiko & Swae Lee - "Sativa"

One of the special songs on Jhene Aiko’s surprise album is called “Sativa” featuring Swae Lee. "You came through with that sativa / Indica be havin' me stuck," Aiko sings on the duet. "[It's] inspired by every type of trip you could imagine: mental, physical, even psychedelic," the singer previously told Playboy. "I’m at a point where I put it all in the music. It’s a puzzle I want people to put together."
