Nicki Minaj Raps In Spanish For New Karol G Collaboration 'Tusa'

Despite her "retirement," Nicki Minaj is keeping the music flowing with a brand-new collaboration with Colombian reggaeton singer Karol G called "Tusa."

On Friday (November 8), Barbie's latest team-up arrived and it hears her try out her Spanglish alongside the songstress. "Pero hice todo este llanto por nada/ Ahora soy una chica mala/ And now you kickin' and screamin', a big toddler/ Don't try to get your friends to come holla, holla," she spits on her verse, before making a reference to the heat between her and new husband, Kenneth Petty. In addition to the track's release, a pink-filled music video, which was directed by Mike Ho, dropped and it sees the pair luxuriating in a fairytale mansion with all the jewels and unicorns that you can imagine.

Karol G told Billboard that she started corresponding with Minaj via Instagram, trading tracks until they landed on "Tusa." "She surprised me by recording four full lines in Spanish," she admitted. In addition, the day of the video, “She asked me to teach her how to sing the chorus in Spanish. And in the video, she does it."

As for how the track was created, Karol said, "She called me and said: 'I'm going to make the best rap of my life for your song,'" she recalled. "I felt so happy. I sent her the music at 1 p.m. At 1:07 p.m., she downloaded the file, and at 8 p.m., I had the song back."

Meanwhile, Minaj is working hard on her fifth studio album, which she described as "fierce, fun and unapologetic." "It's probably the most excited I’ve been about an album release in a really long time," she told ELLE magazine. "This one incorporates all the things people love about Nicki, but it also just has a way bigger sound."
