85 Pounds Of Marijuana Found At Nashville International Airport: Photo

A large amount of marijuana was reportedly found by a detection dog at Nashville International Airport on Wednesday afternoon.

BNA president and CEO Doug Kreulen shared a photo of the K9 standing behind two large luggage bags filled with several large bags of marijuana on Twitter Thursday morning.

The Metro Nashville Police Department said the dog alerted detectives of possible drugs in luggage on a Southwest flight at around 3:00 p.m., FOX 17 News reports. The flight originated from Los Angeles and had a layover in Cleveland before arriving at BNA on Wednesday afternoon.

Police said the luggage was marked as "heavy," which means each of the two bags weighed more than 50 lbs. Investigators made contact with Tomisha Hamm, 20, whose name was on the bags, and were given consent to search the luggage, FOX 17 News reports.

Police said each bag contained four stacks of black vacuumed sealed items. Investigators opened the packages and found another layer of black vacuumed packaging.

Police then took off the next layer and discovered each stack contained 10 individual plastic bags of what was confirmed to be marijuana, which weighed 85 pounds in total.

Hamm was charged with felony possession of marijuana with intent to distribute and booked into Metro Jail on a $100,000 bond, FOX 17 News reports.
