Tennessee Voters Can Now Track Their Absentee Ballots

With the ongoing pandemic, voters are worried that voting in person could negatively impact their health. As a result, many people are choosing to vote by mail, some for the very first time. To alleviate fears of ballots being lost in the mail, Secretary of State Tre Hargett unveiled a new tool that voters can use to track the status of their ballot for the November 3 election.

"We saw a record number of Tennesseans voting absentee by-mail in the August election and we expect to break that record in November," said Secretary Hargett. "Many of these voters are voting absentee by-mail for the first time. Our online tracking tool takes some of the uncertainty out of the process so voters can be confident about their ballot."

In a news release, Hargett's office said voters will be able to track their ballot's status beginning when it is first mailed out and ending when the completed ballot has been received by the county election commission. Absentee voters can access the new Absentee By-Mail Ballot Status Track here.

Absentee ballot requests can be found here, but the state requires a legal reason to vote absentee by-mail. The deadline to request ballot for the November 3 election is October 27.
