US Gymnast Jordan Chiles will have the support of her mom as she competes in the upcoming Tokyo Olympics.Â
On Wednesday (July 16), a federal judge approved a 30-day delay in the start of Gina Chilesâ prison sentence for wire fraud, because her 20-year-old daughter is representing the nation in womenâs gymnastics at the Summer Games from July 23 to August 8.Â
The motion to delay Gina Chilesâ sentence was filed July 13, according to documents obtained by People. Ginaâs legal team requested that she be able to turn herself into authorities on August 26 to give Jordan âsome additional time to have her motherâs emotional support and guidance during such a monumental time in her young life.âÂ
Prosecutors in the case didnât object to the motion, the documents show.
Gina Chiles pleaded guilty to one count of wire fraud after previously admitting to stealing from clients of her commercial properties management company Inspire Vision Property Management LLC, CBS 42 reported.
She was sentenced to one year and one day in federal prison and was originally scheduled to report to federal prison on July 27 ââ the day Jordanâs team is scheduled to compete in the final if they pass qualifying rounds.Â
âEvery moment that I watch Jordan is the most amazing moment as a mom,â Gina told Hoda Kotb on Today this week. âAnd so I just am looking at it as not bittersweet, but just sweet, period, that sheâs here.âÂ
