Arthur, the beloved yellow sweater-wearing aardvark cartoon will soon be off the air after a 25 season run. The PBS show is the longest-running childrenâs animated show in American TV history, according to TMZ.Â
The outlet reported that the showâs executive producer, Carol Greenwald, confirmed the showsâ end in an email to IGN that âthe winter of 2022, the 25th and final season of Arthur will debut.â
There may be a silver lining for super fans of the show or â90s babies feeling extra nostalgic ââ Greenwald said that the production company and network will âwork together on additional Arthur content, sharing the lessons of Arthur and his friends in new ways.â
The show, based on Marc Brownâs Arthur Adventure book series, debuted in 1996 and has aired over 240 episodes. In its time on the TV, the show raked in for Emmys and a Peabody Award and took on plenty of social issues families and friends of the fictional Elwood City faced.Â
Of course Twitter reacted to the news of the showâs forthcoming end, highlighting the hilarious memes the show has given social media over the years.
