Tennessee is bracing for the potential impact of Tropical Depression Ida as it continues to make its way north. A flash flood watch has been issued for much of West Tennessee and the mid-state, which is still recovering from the floods that washed through several counties just over a week ago.

According to FOX 17, rain will arrive Monday (August 30) afternoon in the western half of Tennessee as the storm makes its way across the state throughout Monday night and into Tuesday. Most of the rain in Middle Tennessee is expected to fall between 1 a.m. and 1 p.m., with storms becoming lighter by Tuesday evening.

The news outlet also reports that there is a marginal risk for severe weather Monday night with the potential for isolated tornadoes. FOX 17 reports that the State Emergency Operations Center in Nashville has already been activated and is monitoring the threat. Crews in Memphis prepared the city by clearing storm drains ahead of heavy rainfall, according to WREG.

Ida made landfall on the coast of Louisiana around noon Sunday (August 29) as a dangerous Category 4 hurricane. The deadly storm has claimed at least two lives and left over a million people without power, including all of New Orleans.
