Pancakes are a classic breakfast and brunch staple for a reason. Easily customizable and hard to mess up as even the less-the-stellar options can be greatly improved with a generous dollop of syrup. Whether you prefer your flapjacks griddled on a greasy diner cooktop or beautifully curated and served with a tart compote at an artisanal shop, you're in luck because there's plenty of establishments around the state dishing out delicious stacks of pancakes.
According to a list compiled by Taste of Home, the "best pancakes" in all of Tennessee can be found at Crockett's Breakfast Camp. This popular Gatlinburg eatery serves an Appalachian-inspired menu full of incredible breakfast favorites, including cinnamon swirl pancakes and "Thick Aretha Frankenstein's Pancakes," that can be completed with sweet toppings like whipped cream, berry compote and chocolate chips.
Crockett's Breakfast Camp, located at 1103 Parkway, has a 4.7 star rating on Google and nearly 9,000 reviews.
Here's what the site had to say about the fluffy stack served at this Volunteer State favorite:
"The word 'cake' is taken seriously at Crockett's Breakfast Camp. Less of a flattened disc of batter and more of a griddle cake, the thick pancakes here can be topped with wild berry compote, candied apples and white raisins or southern pecans, just to name a few."
