“Vaughn Franklin, Aretha's nephew, admitted the speech 'caught the entire family off guard' and that Reverend Jasper Williams Jr handling of his role 'has been very, very distasteful'.
It's something they didn't expect as the Atlanta reverend had spoken at a memorial for Aretha's father, minister and civil rights activist C.L. Franklin, 34 years ago.”
